Creative Arts at St Luke's Preschool
We believe the creative arts support children’s overall developmental growth across all domains. It stimulates the right side of the brain that controls spatial abilities, facial recognition, visual imagery, arts and music, emotions and creativity.
The arts allow children to communicate in verbal and nonverbal ways promoting many different frames of expression. It offers opportunity to create, imagine and nurture their own curiosities and inquisitive nature. Children learn about themselves and develop self esteem and confidence. They are able to make meaning of their world that gives them successful transitions as they move through life.
We feel it’s important that children have the opportunity to explore their creativity in ways that promotes relaxation, releases anxiety, supports them in making connections with others, builds resilience, teaches them self regulation, how to overcome obstacles, develop individuality and embrace diversity.
At St. Luke’s preschool we offer a permanent art space where we introduce and encourage children to explore and experiment with a wide range of mediums and multi-media.
We also offer dance, drama using puppets and storytelling and music provided by our qualified resident music teacher.
